Student Services - Linking students and work

Making the transition from being a high school student to being an employed adult is never easy. Career Connections works to ease this transition. This program combines Community Workforce Solutions and The North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation with the public school system's Transition Services to assist youth in the Occupational Course of Study (OCS) diploma pathway in obtaining and maintaining community employment. The program is designed to maximize the student's chances of being employed in a job he/she likes by the time they exit high school. Career Connections may provide any or all of the following services:

  • Community-based assessment of work skills
  • Job seeking skills assistance
  • Job placement assistance
  • Short term job coaching
  • Follow-up to maximize employment success
  • Assistance in arranging for long-term follow-up when needed

Some Wake County students participate in Community Workforce Solutions' on-site work adjustment training services as a part of their normal school day. Often these students and their families choose to continue CWS services such as Adult Day Vocational Program once the student exits high school.
